In this video, I am going to show you 3 things you can do to stop more shots from the slot. Number 1: Are you square to the puck? This goal went in not because of a nice shot, but rather me not playing the shooter correctly. When a player has the opportunity to shoot especially in the slot, you must always be squared to the puck. In this situation, it looks like I moved to my right to get around my defensemen but I didn’t correct myself which resulted in me being out of position. Number 2: How deep are you in your net? Most goals go in because goalies are not square to the puck but even if you were perfectly square, pucks can still get by you if you are too deep into your net. As you can see, when I dropped down into the butterfly to make the save, I was in my crease. This opens up more net for the player to shoot at and makes it harder for you to stop the puck. So if there is no immediate passing threat in front or backdoor, move out to the top of your crease to challenge the shooter and to cover more net. Number 3: Can you get your body in front of it? If you are out of position and playing too deep, you will find yourself reaching for the puck way more than you should. To be a great goalie, you must always try to get your chest in front of the puck. If I was square to the puck and out on top of my crease, I could have easily leaned into the shot and I would have probably stopped it with my left shoulder and then I would have been able to simply freeze the puck in my glove on my shoulder. So if you find yourself always getting beat like this, remember to be square to the puck, standing at the top of your crease and lean into the shot. If you liked this goal breakdown hit that like button and let me know in the comments what I kind of goal I should break down next. _____ I am also on: Instagram ► / tpsh_goalie Facebook ► / tpshgoalie Camera Settings on GoPro's Behind the net cam: 2.7K / 60fps / Flat Colour Helmet cam: 1080 / 48fps / Flat Colour Free Be A Dominator Wallpaper ► ► https://freewallpaper.tpshgoalie.com/ Gear I use to filmed hockey games with: Behind Net Camera ► http://amzn.to/2EtKKc1 Helmet Camera ► http://amzn.to/2HgmRlB Suction Cup ► http://amzn.to/2BvpZdh 2 of these Memory Cards ► http://amzn.to/2HgpzaY Gear I use to film talking to camera with: Sony ►http://amzn.to/2Ge0xaZ Lens ► http://amzn.to/2Hgex5m Bendy Tripod ► http://amzn.to/2ErCkSi #HockeyGoalie #goalie #GoProHockey
