So what's actually better for building a bigger chest, barbell presses or dumbbell presses? Most people will say dumbbells because of the deeper stretch and better squeeze. But, first off there's no rule that more stretch is automatically better and there's no guarantee that you'll get a deeper stretch with dumbbells anyway. It depends on the size of the dumbbells you're using and on your individual mobility. If they're a bit smaller then you can sink down more easily, but if they're a bit bigger, they often end up running into your chest at the bottom unless you're using a really wide arm path, and a bar can actually allow you to hit full depth more comfortably. In either case though the difference will be minor. And secondly, even though dumbbells allow you to press in an arching motion, gravity is always pulling in a straight line toward the floor and so there's no actual resistance challenging that inward squeeze. So to answer the question, both barbell and dumbbell presses are fine options for free weight pressing, the pecs are being challenged through a very similar range in either case, and you can just go with the one that you prefer and that feels best for you. #fitness #gym #workout #buildmuscle #bodybuilding
