It's Sulphur season here as I release this video and this is part two of my three part series covering the sulphur hatch. If you know me at all, you know I like to nymph fish and teach nymph fishing. BUT, if I'm out fishing on my own you will probably find me out with my old Fenwick or my Redington Butter Stick swinging a team of wet flies. There is just something about the tug of a trout when it smacks an old soft hackle pattern. I tie a ton of flies every year and a lot of them are the same patterns over and over. For me when I tie for myself I like to experiment and try new patterns. That was the case with this fly. I wanted to experiment with a soft hackle for the sulphur hatch and use one of my favorite and probably most under used materials, Golden Pheasant Tail. I love the modeled look that is achieved by the use of Golden Pheasant. it has such a natural look to it. As with all my videos, go to https://www.holsingersflyshop.com for the materials needed to tie this fly and others. Don't get worked up about not having the exact hackle I used in this pattern. Use what you have like a hen hackle in brown, dark barred ginger, or maybe the brown rump feathers on a partridge skin. Brahma hen also works great for soft hackles. Have fun tying and use what you have. -Shawn Materials List: Daiichi 1560 size 14-16 Semperfli Nano Silk 12/0 Copper Golden Pheasant Tail Fibers Ultra Wire Brassie Copper SLF Pattern Blends Golden Stone Nymph Hen Hackle, Furnace or other dark color Solarez Bone Dry
