In this vlog, I begin my day early in the morning at around 7 AM on an almost rainy day in Pushkar. The skies were cloudy, the air was cool, and the fairgrounds were alive with energy. I spent time interacting with several horse farmers and breeders, discussing the prices of Marwari horses and colts being sold at the market. I also tried to negotiate with them, as I personally felt the prices were quite high this year. During my exploration, I met two riders showcasing a thoroughbred horse, along with another internationally bred horse born in India. The thoroughbred was originally from Argentina and around twenty-one years old. We had an engaging conversation comparing the Marwari horse and the Thoroughbred, discussing which breed performs better for riding, endurance, and handling in Indian conditions. Later in the vlog, I visited a horse tent where a local farmer was in the middle of purchasing a young horse filly. The negotiation process was intense but unfortunately did not result in a deal. Still, it was a fascinating glimpse into the horse trading culture that defines the Pushkar Horse Market. I then headed toward the premium tent section, meeting visitors and breeders from Udaipur, Jaipur, Kuchaman, and various rural parts of Rajasthan. Many shared their thoughts about the fair, their expectations, and how weather conditions could affect the market. As the drizzle turned steady, the temperature dropped further, and I discussed whether the unexpected rain might impact the horse prices or discourage buyers. Towards the end, I encountered a magnificent Marwari stallion standing 70 inches tall, one of the most impressive horses I have seen at the fair this season.
