You may call ALL of the red vehicles at the JCFD fire trucks, but they are NOT all the same! All JCFD vehicles are specialized to perform specific tasks to keep #JohnsonCity safe. This month's #ApparatusSpotlight highlights the apparatus that takes our #firefighters to new heights – the ladder trucks. The truck is the big, tall, attention-grabbing sibling in the JCFD family. It is the show-off that reaches for the sky! In addition to doing everything the engine does, trucks also provide an elevated master stream, giving the JCFD the ability to fight fires from above. Our trucks also carry advanced rescue equipment and aggressive hydraulic rescue tools for vehicle extrication. 🚒 - The JCFD is equipped with three trucks located at Stations 2, 4, and 5. 🚒 - Trucks carry approximately 300 gallons of water and pump up to 2,000 gallons per minute. 🚒 - Our ladders and their platforms reach elevations of 100 to 105 feet. 🚒 - Each ladder truck rolls with a two-person crew – a driver/engineer and a firefighter.
