In fact Wales - with a new half back pairing of Gareth Davies and Terry Holmes - led by 12 points to ten as the game approached injury time only to be robbed of a famous victory by a Brian McKechnie penalty. And Wales' supporters disapointment was made all the worse when New Zealand's captain on the day - Graham Mourie - later admitted in his autobiography that his side won their late match winning penalty as a result of a pre planned dive from the line out.
