Nestled in the mountains, the village held great defensive and tactical value. The enemy knew this — and attacked again and again. Peaceful villagers turned into defenders overnight. They fought to protect their homes, their families, their land. But in July 1992, Talysh was occupied. Homes burned, courtyards were destroyed, and silence fell upon the forests. From that day, Talysh’s name joined the list of lost homelands. For years, those mountains stood empty. Only the wind wandered through its streets, brushing past bullet-marked walls and the ruins where homes once stood. Yet, in the hearts of the people, Talysh never disappeared. Its name lived on in prayers. For every family of a fallen soldier, this name symbolized hope — the promise of return. Time passed. Years changed. But the longing for justice did not. And in September 2020, history reached its turning point. The 44-Day Patriotic War began. Step by step, the Azerbaijani Army liberated our lands. Fierce battles were fought for Talysh. Soldiers advanced through mountain paths and dense forests toward the village. Mines, bullets, and hidden dangers surrounded them — yet their determination never broke. Finally, in October 2020, Talysh was liberated by the Azerbaijani Army. The tricolor flag of Azerbaijan was raised high above the village. That moment marked more than the liberation of one settlement — it was the restoration of a nation’s memory. The soldiers who raised that flag were not just warriors; they were heroes who broke the silence of thirty long years. Since that day, Talysh has been reborn. The Azerbaijani government launched large-scale reconstruction projects. New roads are being built, power lines restored, and homes rebuilt. Today, the village is being transformed under the “Smart Village” concept, bringing modern infrastructure back to this historic land. On soil once reduced to ruins, life now blooms again. Lights shine from the windows of new houses, children play in the schoolyard, and the still mountains echo once more with the voice of Azerbaijan. The revival of Talysh is not only physical — it is spiritual. Because the soul of every village lives within its people. And those people are returning — to their land, their memories, their roots. This soil has been sanctified by the blood of martyrs. Even if they did not live to see Talysh’s liberation, that day was born through their spirit. Now, life flows again through these mountains.
