From our Healthy Highlights series: Dr. Daniel Walsh, a vascular surgeon at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), talks about the negative impact smoking has on Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD), sometimes known as Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD). Dr. Walsh says, "If someone comes to me and has blood vessel disease in the leg, and they smoke, I tell them that no matter what I do for them they have a twenty percent chance of losing a leg sometime in their life.
