Roku 3 Review - Compared to the Roku Streaming Stick

Why? Because Roku had a lot of runway as this market developed over the five years, and there are "channels" (aka apps) that support nearly all of the major video streaming services out there. This device is faster than the Streaming Stick, although I was surprised that the Netflix channel took almost as long to load as it does on the Streaming Stick. But the speed is apparent when starting up videos to play - especially videos on your local area network. And it's that area where the Roku 3 really shines -- like the Streaming Stick it is capable of playing Blu Ray class MKV files, complete with the ability to pass along Dolby Digital and DTS audio to a home theater receiver. It is flawless and fast especially when connected via Ethernet which is lacking on the Streaming Stick. Another feature unique to the Roku 3 is that the remote has a headphone jack on board, so it's possible to listen to content without disturbing a significant other. The best part is that once headphones are connected the Roku immediately cuts audio to the television. Really nice feature. Games are available but this really isn't the Roku's strong suit. It's a streaming box and the best one out there currently. I can't recommend this box highly enough. I'm surprised I didn't look into it sooner.
