Bergh denied that he used spies whilst in power, and also took the opportunity to deny allegations that "Boss" murdered former journalist Keith Wallace in London as false, and blamed the muder on Pan African Congress guerrilas (PAC)and terrorists. The Labour Party's spokesman on Home Affairs, Merily Rees, asked the British Government to investigate claims by the journalist, Gordon Winter, that the former Bureau for State Security was involved in a plot to frame anti-Apartheid activist Peter Hain in a bank robbery.
