Pal urged MPs to return to their seats for a formal division, but as disruptions continued, the motion was eventually defeated through a voice vote. The notice seeking Birla’s removal was submitted by Gaurav Gogoi, Deputy Leader of the Indian National Congress in the Lok Sabha, invoking Article 94(c) of the Constitution. Following the notice, Birla had chosen to recuse himself from presiding over the House until the matter was resolved, calling it a moral decision.
