Introducing the Puritan, freshly ratified for service by the New Empire: A high health, high damage unit, with low mobility/dodge. The puritan has little regard for their own life and is on the battlefield solely to smite heathens and swiftly bring purity, dealing the highest damage I've ever programmed for any of the units' attacks so far. They are dressed in white with the hood. And of course we have the Gladiators, the Rangers, and a sacrifice - up against barbarian thralls. The barbarian Thralls have not been shown until now (But I've had them ready for a while now); a highly aggressive unit with poor health and extremely poor damage. Their strength of course is in their numbers, and thus they are extremely cheap (costing almost HALF the points of a caveman clubber). The thralls can dodge attacks quite easily in part due to their generally small size / stature, and can quickly and literally overwhelm a careless target if they have the numbers. Sometimes you just need a body, and the servants' will do nicely. They can be identified by being the blue team, and having a Viking-themed cap and a short sword. The gladiators are one of my personal favorites, extremely nimble, moving fast, and tackling enemies - dealing high damage in the process. Their regular attack damage is rather lackluster - but their tackle makes up for it, becoming their primary means of damage. To help with the slower output of damage, they have a decent health pool, evade attacks quite well, and have a shield. They excel against fewer, stronger enemies because while one gladiator is engaging, the others tend to get behind (around the target's defenses) and deal massive damage with their tackle - providing a synergistic attack strategy, and a damn effective one at that. The aesthetically inclined armor has a gold-inspired finish and their eye-catching white shield will ensure you see them coming from the outskirt stadium benches. The rangers are the first units I made, before I ever thought this would become a 100+ unit project. They have had a few tweaks over the months since to bring them in line with the standards I have established as the project progressed- both aesthetically and tactically - and have come out more effective, and dapper, as a result. They are very fast units with mediocre health, but make up for it by being the most evasive unit. They will parry and dodge most attacks, and as long as they don't dodge their way into a swarm - the Ranger can take on an unexpectedly high number of squires, or otherwise lower tiered or slow enemies. However due to their somewhat low health, mistakes are heavily punished - as well as biting off more than what they can chew; being a constant and major personality flaw of the regiment. They are some of the most defensive-orientated units I have, and can duel with the best of them - mostly bested by only numbers and higher health units. Rangers are rather edgy and wear black armor and have messy hair - as the main inspiration were the Rangers from Lord of the Rings. I'm not trying to insult them, by the way, I think the edge is pretty cool. The sacrificed are relics from well before the Order was integrated within the Empire. They gave their souls so that the Order's will could be enacted, without concern for fickle things such as mortality or self preservation. Their bodies for the Order. And so it shall be until the Order allows these vessels to be released from this half life. They will comically throw themselves at the enemy, making them some of the most aggressive units in my roster, only bested by the likes of the Crusader- which if I am being honest is just this unit but with a higher health pool and damage. And still alive, canonically speaking. Despite having the same general tactics, the difference in heath and damage makes the units play very differently, but I would still feel bad not disclosing that tidbit to you. They wear hoods covering their face, glowing crystals ordain their chest.
