LRT 1 Talaba Station The LRT-1 Talaba Station is a newly added station to the ongoing LRT-1 Cavite Extension project. Here's what's known about it: It will be located in Barangay Talaba, Bacoor, Cavite, specifically between the planned Zapote and Niog Stations. The addition of this station was a request from the Bacoor local government unit. It is intended to cater to more passengers and serve new commercial developments in the area, as Bacoor is experiencing growth. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) plans to spend approximately PHP 3 billion to construct the Talaba Station. This funding will come from the DOTr's own budget, not from the LRT-1 operator, Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC). Construction and Operation: The construction of the station will be bid out to a separate contractor. Once completed, it will be turned over to LRMC for operations and maintenance. Timeline: The Talaba and Niog stations are expected to be operational by 2030, completing the full extension of LRT-1 to Niog. The second phase of the extension, covering Las Piñas and Zapote stations, is scheduled to open by 2028. Alignment: The station will be built along the original alignment of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension project, with engineering solutions addressing previous issues like a flyover in its path. Impact: The LRT-1 Cavite Extension, including the Talaba Station, aims to significantly ease congestion in Metro Manila and improve commuter access to nearby provinces. Once the full extension to Bacoor is built, daily ridership in the LRT-1 is expected to rise to 800,000, and travel time between Pasay and Cavite will be cut to just 25 minutes.
