The Fast and Furious Saga continues with F9, starring Vin Diesel, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, and a complete absence of any logic — even by Fast and Furious standards! In this video I give you a quick breakdown of what I felt were the most unrealistic moments in F9, and thus why I think this might be the downfall of everyone’s favorite family based franchise. Of course, that’s just this writer’s opinion — we’re more than happy to know what you thought of the film in the comments! Among the lapses in logic that pervade this particular installment, we have to talk about Roman and Tej journeying into space, as seen in the trailers, which might be both the highlight and nadir of the Fast Franchise. That has nothing on the return of Han, as played by the always welcome Sung Kang, who while always a great get seems to have nothing much to do here other than fill in some plot beats and receive the biggest handwave in the history of retcons. And oh boy, there are plenty of retcons in this here story! Also, we’ve got Ares, the latest implausible plot device to enter the series, basically taking God’s Eye from Furious Seven and making it even more ridiculous. It’s not quite zombie cars, but it’s pretty silly. Characters survive impossible feats as well, including one I can’t show because the footage isn’t available online: a dude gets hit by a massive street sign and doesn’t even budge. Remember that scene where Dwayne Johnson just breaks open his arm cast with his bulging muscles? It’s that but times, like, thirty. Truly one of the most outlandish and unrealistic moments in a series about what amounts to car fu.
