The link between poetry and song has always been strong. I wrote this poem, and Tammy, with Pachelbel's Canon in D buzzing around in her head, set it to music. A lovely collaboration which we hope you enjoy. "Talk To Me" Talk to me about how you live, How you take and how you give, Talk to me, I say talk to me, About your life, and living free. There is a problem with this world, As felt by every boy and girl, Who can fix it, how can it mend, Before we’re all driven round the bend? We shout our truths but rarely hear, We build our walls from doubt and fear, We race for more, yet still feel small, Chasing shadows down the hall. We trade our time for fragile gain, Calling comfort “worth the pain,” Yet hearts grow tired, souls feel thin, From all the noise that roars within. So tell me how you face the day, What keeps the darker thoughts at bay, What makes you rise, what helps you stand, When life feels like shifting sand. Is it hope you keep inside, Or love you never try to hide? Is it dreams you still pursue, Or faith that pulls you safely through? If we would listen, not just speak, If we grew gentle, not so bleak, We’d find the bridge from me to you, And see this broken world anew. For change begins with open hearts, With honest words and brand-new starts, So talk to me, and I’ll talk too, Perhaps that’s how we all break through. © 2026 Steve Furnell
