Various of flooded streets and houses STORYLINE: Floods reported on Friday in parts of Kosovo closed down schools and soaked properties and farmland – after the Ibar River and other, smaller rivers and streams overflowed, cutting off local roads and forcing people from their homes. Around 50 families were forced to evacuate homes in northern and western Kosovo with authorities deploying security forces, including their trucks and boats, to help. The floods this week in Kosovo, Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, and Albania have been triggered by heavy rainfall and unseasonably warm weather. The torrential rains were unusual for winter months. Temperatures dropped in many areas on Friday as rain turned to snow.
