ESR Meter Review and Test on MaxAmps 100c Lipo

The ESR meter is just one tool I use to evaluate the health of my LIPO packs. Measuring the internal resistance will give you a picture of the state of each individual cell. It is important that you test the packs at a fully charged star and test any packs you are trying to compare at the same temperature. The hotter the packs the lower the IR value will be. For this test I had all the packs at 70 degrees F. I found that compare to the IR readings I got from my PL6 charger the ESR meter sow the IR to be about 30% higher. The IR reading is not a definitive number rather it is a method of comparing packs if done side by side. I usually will have a look at the discharge graph from my onboard data logger after a flight and that will complete the picture for me and show how well the battery voltage holds up under a load.
