#HumanEvolution #HumanOrigins #JebelIrhoud New Evidence Destroys the 'African Eden' Theory For decades, textbooks taught that modern humans arose from a single small population in East Africa, an African Eden, dating to Omo Kibish approximately 195,000 years ago, and reinforced by the 1987 mitochondrial Eve study. Jean-Jacques Hublin’s team shattered this idea when they re-dated the Jebel Irhoud fossils in Morocco to 315,000 years ago using thermoluminescence. That work showed modern facial features existed 120,000 years earlier, and 5,000 kilometers away from the supposed cradle.
