This video covers the second half of Delaware Route 1 southbound to Ocean City. There are many features in the second half of this trip to Ocean City, MD. Here they are as I will point them out: 1. Modification to the Delaware Route 5 junction - Due to the plans to upgrade the junction with Route 16 into an interchange, this was necessary to modify this intersection. You can no longer turn left onto Route 5 south anymore. 2. Future Delaware Route 16/1 interchange - This interchange will be upgraded first. This involves reconstructing Delaware Route 16 through the future interchange and constructing ramps, which will serve northbound and southbound Route 1 until the bridges carrying them are open. Construction will begin next year and be completed in 2024. 3. Future Minos Conaway Road interchange - This will the second interchange to be upgraded. This one focuses on extending the service roads and building new traffic circle junctions and new on and off-ramps. This includes the extension of Nassau Road, which will require shifting Route 1 west to accommodate the new changes. Route 1 will be widened to three lanes in each way just south of the future interchange. Construction is expected to begin in 2023 and be complete in late 2025. 4. The Waterpark at Midway 5. Rehoboth Mall 6. Dewey Beach 7. Delaware Seashore State Park 8. Indian River Inlet Bridge - Originally a narrow bridge, now a cable-stayed bridge, carries Route 1 over the North and South Seashore State Parks. The replacement of the bridge began in 2008 and was completed in 2013. 9. Bethany Beach 10.
