The Lotha Hoho (LH) conducted a spot inspection of the ongoing Nagaland Foothill Road construction under the Baghty Division in Wokha district on January 21, 2026, and expressed serious dissatisfaction over the slow pace and poor quality of work. The inspection was carried out in the presence of representatives from the Lotha Lower Range Public Organisation (LLRPO), Ralan Area Lotha Hoho (RALH), Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC), Junior Engineer of PWD (R&B), bridge contractors, and members of the Agrive Villagers Forum (Champang–Merapani area). Despite the project’s original completion deadline lapsing on December 8, 2025, a three-month extension has been granted. However, major concerns remain, with only 48 out of 152 culverts completed along the 38.6-km stretch and five bridges still awaiting steel structures from the department. The earthwork was described as deplorable and far below DPR standards, with the absence of wing walls posing serious risks ahead of the monsoon season. Public organisations voiced strong dissatisfaction over substandard workmanship, inadequate coordination, and delays, while officials acknowledged staffing shortages and assured efforts to meet the revised deadline. The Lotha Hoho warned of strict daily monitoring and possible action if the project is not completed within the extended timeframe.
