Hours after making this video I found out that the structure we see at present is the lift shaft of the future office block building that will be built around it. NB Poster Jonathan was good enough to put me right on this development. This building will be an office block not a hotel as I believed. Jonathan went on to tell me that, this is, 'part of the overall City Quays development (a residential tower is also proposed on the other side of the AC hotel).' He was good enough to send me this link below to show how City Quays 3 will look. There are images showing the completed look on this website: http://www.futurebelfast.com/property... ( Many thanks Jonathan ) I was out for a welcome dander round Belfast Harbour Marina and then over beside the SSE Arena to the river Lagan. Across the river at City Quays I was this slim, high rise, construction. I believe that this may be THE LIFT SHAFT OF another hotel under construction. The fascinating thing for me was the method of construction being used. There appeared to be a 'collar' round the top of the building and I was told that this moves upwards as building progresses. I found out later that this LIFT SHAFT, is being built using the, relatively new to UK, 'Slip Forming' Method. Slip forming, continuous poured, continuously formed, or slipform construction is a construction method in which concrete is poured into a continuously moving form. Slip forming is used for tall structures (such as bridges, towers, buildings, and dams), as well as horizontal structures, such as roadways. This method will provide a very strong structure because thre are no joints in the concrete. The workers safety is extra assured during building and the construction whatever it might be will be completed effeciently in record time. It's hard to beat this!
