Theodor Koch-Grünberg (1872-1924), Philologist and anthropologist -- Expeditions on the Amazon, to south-Venezuela Chant of the magic healer In 1899 the classic philologist Theodor Koch-Grünberg took part in the second Xingu-expedition in Central Brazil, headed by the famous anthropologist Herrmann Meyer from Leipzig. Between 1903 and 1905 he travelled to the north-western Amazon, and between 1911 and 1913 to the northern part. During this expedition he made the presented recordings of the ethnic groups of Talipang and Yekuaná-Majonggóng. The nasal chanting is very clear despite considerable background noise from the way-cylinder recording. // Der klassische Philologe Theodor Koch-Grünberg nahm 1899 an der zweiten Xingu Epedition des Leipzigers Herrmann Meyer durch Zentralbrasilien teil. Von 1903 bis 1905 folgten Forschungsreisen in das nordwestliche Amazonasgebiet. Nach seiner Habilitation bereiste Koch-Grünberg Nordbrasilien (1911-1913). Von dieser Expedition stammen die Tonaufnahmen der Talipang und der Yekuaná-Majonggóng Indianer. Der nasale Gesang ist sehr deutlich, trotz beträchtlicher Hintergrundgeräusche der Wachswalzen des Phonographen.
