I find this idea so fascinating. While I doubt it was conceived to be a motif related to the theme of trust, every usage of it in Volumes 2 and 3 just so happened to be in moments where trust was relevant (and take note of the characters involved!), which makes its callback in Volume 7 years later so incredibly effective.
