The Swedish CV9040 infantry fighting vehicle features the 40mm Bofors L/70 automatic cannon, capable of firing APFSDS projectiles. The simulation presents one of these projectiles impacting the side armour of a T-72 (without ERA), at 65° -as if the T-72 was angled at 25° from head-on, at ~200m. The T-72's side armour has been modelled with a hardness of 300BHN and it should be noted that many modernised variants have heavy ERA on ths side, which is effective against APFSDS projectiles. However, as the CV90 fires 5 rounds per second, there's a good chance that at close range, a previous shot could trigger the ERA, clearing the path for a subsequent one. The Armour-Piercing Fin-Stabilised Discarding-Sabot projectile's design has been approximated based on information and images available online, with it being modelled as a 10x203mm Tungsten Alloy (WHA) penetrator with a muzzle velocity of 1500m/s.
