Shockingly, many were misled under false pretenses, only to discover later that the clinic’s operations were deeply fraudulent. The victims, now overwhelmed with anger and betrayal, are demanding justice and strict action against those responsible for exploiting their hopes of parenthood. The clinic was run by Dr Athaluri Namratha (64), previously linked to a 2020 newborn trafficking case. Despite losing license in 2021, she continued operations under another doctor’s credentials and allegedly used her son to intimidate clients who raised concerns. Authorities arrested eight individuals including Dr Namratha, an anesthesiologist from Gandhi Hospital, agents, and even the biological parents involved in the racket. Police filed FIRs under criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, forgery, and violations of the Surrogacy Regulation Act, 2021.
