Though we wanted to stay another day at Madurai, due to some reasons we started off to Pudukottai. Pudukkottai was an accidental stop that turned incredible for us. On our way to Pudukottai, we stopped at someplace that was 50 to 60 kilometers from Madurai (a pure Tamil Nadu village). From a small shop, we had some Tirunelveli Halwa and a local drink that tasted similar to the famous Glodspot. As we continued our journey to Pudukkottai, we stopped by Pillayarpatti Karpaka Vinayakar Temple. Pillaiyarpatti Pillaiyar Kovil is an ancient rock-cut cave shrine dedicated to Lord Ganesha. In Pudukkottai we got a gem by the name Palaniappa Mess. Palaniappa Mess looked very small from its entrance but once inside, the ambiance was extraordinary and the food was quite impressive. We tried puff parotta, kotthu parotta, and various other delicacies from there.
