(2 Apr 1999) English/Nat Computer experts in Yugoslavia are using their skills to promote anti-war messages. One group, calling itself "Shelter Productions" has produced a series of video clips ridiculing NATO leaders, including U-S Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and British prime minister Tony Blair. The films, which combine a montage of anti-war images with morale boosting slogans, have been distributed to all the main television networks in Serbia. "Stop the bombs" and "Stop the lies"- these are the messages that have been broadcast throughout Yugoslavia in a slick campaign produced by top Belgrade computer experts. The short films are made for free by a company that has renamed itself "Shelter Productions" - an ironic gesture in empathy with city residents who are spending their nights in air-raid shelters. The films show a montage of anti-war images and morale boosting slogans and have been distributed to all the main television networks in Serbia. Vladimir Andonov, general manager of "Shelter productions", says their main goal is to promote a more sympathetic view of Serbians to the world. SOUNDBITE: (English) "Our goal is to show foreign people that we are human, that we are civil, that we are an openhearted nation." However, there is dismay in Belgrade over reports that Yugoslav Internet servers may be disconnected from the World Wide Web because they are clogging servers with anti-war messages. SOUNDBITE: (English) "I think that's possible, because this war proves that everything is possible, and this is would be another way to keep people in a concentration camp, where they are now. Internet is a good way to tell people what's going on, and it would be a shameful thing to cut those links". SUPERCAPTION: Dragomir Nikolic, computer expert Nikolic has created his own web site to promote anti-war messages. Meanwhile, Belgrade's citizens gather for another daily anti-NATO pop concert in downtown Belgrade. For the fifth day running thousands of people gathered in the main square of Belgrade carrying banners and posters.
