Doc Dooley's Website: https://www.docdooley.at Bandcamp: https://docdooley.bandcamp.com THIS VIDEO compares the Tube Town Emma - a "Mini-Tweed" Amp (modeled after the 5E3 but with only 3 Watt) with the Tube Town Spitfire (modeled after the Matchless Spitfire, 18 Watt) and the Tube Amp Doctor Tweed Princeton 5F2, a class A 6 Watt amp. The speaker used with TT Emma is the Jupiter 12SC, the Spitfire can be heard through a WGS Black Hawk Alnico and the TAD Princeton with a Jupiter 12LC. You hear seven short clips in three versions each, recorded with respectively played back from the looper, each in the following sequence: 1. TT Emma, Jupiter 12SC 2. TT Spitfire, WGS Black Hawk Alnico 3. TAD Tweed, Jupiter 12LC The signal chain is: Harley Benton Looper - Effects - Amp - Speaker - AGK C1000S - Cubase. No EQ, no compressor, no mastering. Volume differences were compensated in Cubase. Emma is played through the bright channel, Tone pot dimed. The Spitfire was recorded with the Captain Power Soak on (small power reduction), tone pot dimed. The TAD also has a Captain Power Soak which was on (small power reduction), and the Tone Pot was on 11 of 12. The recording was made at bedroom level, so there is little power stage compression. Guitars: USA Strat, ca 2004, with Leosound 1962 ST pickups (bridge overwound), three clips: neck pickup (clean), neck/middle (clean), bridge (Barber Gain Changer OD) FGN Tele, ca 2015, with stock bridge pickup (Seymour Duncan) and a Goldfoil made by David Barfuss. Two clis: neck pickup (JCA Blackface OD), bridge pickup (JCA Blackface OD) Gibson Les Paul, 1983, with a Häussel 1959 bucker in the bridge and a David Barfuss Firebird Mini Humbucker in the neck. Two clips: neck pickup (JCA Blackface OD), bridge pickup (tc electronic Honey Pot fuzz into JCA Blackface OD) All guitar pots were left at max. I did not change the settings of the effects between clips, which results in suboptimal settings in some cases, but I wanted to highlight the differences between guitars, amps and speakers instead of EQ-ing the sound to taste, which would have hampered comparability. Rather, I tried to use settings that were a compromise between pieces played and guitars/pickups used. The Thumbnail shows the TT Emma with the Surfy Bear Reverb used at a very low setting (shown in the picture). Hope you find that useful. More information about myself: https://www.docdooley.at/
