Hello next community: I wanted to try something different and tell the story of this NeXT hardware equipment that came in as well as software peripherals. Boxes can be cut down up to to save I’ve been in the business of buying selling refurbishing restoring repairing NeXT hardware since 1993 coming up on 33 years February 9 and as time passes a lot of my original customers and myself of course, we all are aging and medical issues, downsizing, long-standing business and personal relationships have come full circle. I’ve been able to help a lot of families settle their affairs regarding the old NeXT hardware, and as my customers have sometimes passed on, they left notes saying to contact me or the family find me on the net. Word of mouth .....I try a have a good rep can''t please everryone , I have fun trying tho... That’s why I’ve been in business so long and I had to take a few steps back as I was really upset on this deal and the video reflected that when everything first arrived, it wasn't the equipment it was the shipping rate ,now I understand what happened and I'm hoping talking to UPS they will understand and give me credit to use soon. So after hearing the other side of the story from Jims son Jason today, I settled down alot I think it was the extra $660 UPS added on today that sent me into a special place. I put it in perspective with them as well Say I offered them $2400 for the lot only they ship to me , they have everything boxed up and ship but the catch is UPS says oh that'll be $2400 to ship . I usually get awesome rates that is why I'm trying to figure out have rates gone through the roof , at some point pricing has to come into line with reality . I'll find out when I talk with UPS and see what happens, I'll make a video it is something different. Now , I understood why they used a larger boxes, they made an effort to find the larger boxes because there was a shortage at 4 ups stores because of Christmas, and Jim’s doing OK he’s been in the hospital. He had a stroke and a heart attack , his son Jason and other family boxed up everything should’ve been a $500-$750 shipping from San Francisco to Fort Collins Colorado using UPS Ground for eight boxes initially was $1750 , add $660 for the volume discrepancy and it makes me wonder if U-Haul is aware of that and UPS must definitely be aware of the misprint to actual box size compounds if there’s a lot of volume going through I try and always use a tape measure on and I have a professional scale . I’ve learned over 30 years. That’s the way to do it and sometimes I make a mistake but in this case because the customer is doing it, yeah you have to trust. recommend a bathroom scale as well as a tape measure, and in this case the sizes they went with we’re on the other side of the box. which I probably have done too, but apparently the manufacturers mistake. The boxes is slightly large largerthan labled and so now UPS and FedEx. I understand where they’re coming from too. They rates are based on on you know the availability of space there’s a lot of different considerations. they take into when making a quote but it’s nasty when there’s a clawback like that $660 seems really excessive and They used oversized boxes unessasarily also boxes could’ve actually been cut down and I’ll make a video showing how to do that showing how to box stuff up because I think it’ll be helpful to somebody out there at any rate. I hope your day is going better than mine went and I’m gonna still negotiate with UPS the team there and I’m expecting a call back tomorrow. I think once they realize we’re dealing with a family that under a lot of stress I’m helping them out a fair deal on the hardware, UPS should adjust the shipping. It wasn’t intentional on our part the fact that they didn’t have those boxes in stock that would’ve helped a lot right what do we do we try, I’m trying to make a living and I appreciate everybody’s business out there so sometimes too you need to take a step back. Find out the whole story before making judgment on it. That’s what I learned on this one you know once I started corresponding back with Jason I realized oh my God, yeah, OK that explains it. They didn’t know that it was gonna be that I didn’t know it was gonna be that much more either. You know I figured it’d be a little bit of an overcharge the other thing that threw me for a loop . I was trying to my accounts been there for 30 years. We usually just do the draw at the end of the month. I thought well I’ll just put it on my card here and pay for it. You know through the UPS web portal assigned to my account and when I did that it may have stopped the discounts that I was getting possibly ? lOK wait a second so I’m gonna get that squared away. I'm looking at my UPS history . It’s really confusing me. You know I haven’t done anything wrong. I mean I gave UPS plenty of business as last year even tipped driver on this delivery . Warm Regards Rob Blessin
