The Socialist Realist suburb of Nowa Huta is an interesting place to check out if you're visiting Krakow. This unique neighborhood in Krakow is one of only two entirely pre-planned socialist realist cities in the world. Wandering around Nowa Huta you'll find wide, tree-lined streets, lakes, parks, old churches, and plenty of communist architecture showcasing the deliberate social engineering done here. Right now more than 200,000 people live in Nowa Huta and it's one of the most populous areas of Krakow. To get to Nowa Huta take the Tram 4 from the Krakow Old Town. Get off at Plac Centralny, the Central Square in Nowa Huta. It takes a few hours to explore all of the different things to do in Nowa Huta. It's definitely worth checking out, especially if you're interested in architecture and communist history.
