Lara’s love of fabric dying has brought her to the attention of British Vogue where her work will be featured in 2019 January, February and March issues. Her passion started when she was a teenager, working with friends around a campfire with bubbling pots of colour and cloth. Using natural materials such as eucalyptus leaves, rust, indigo, wood sap and gardenia fruit, Lara sources woven and knitted silks, wools and linens to create exquisite printed fabrics which are then handmade into bespoke clothing. Lara now has her own fashion label and is passionate about sustainable fashion and urges us to be conscious consumers of fashion. Whether that might be buying quality clothing that we really, really love rather than sweatshop items which are quickly discarded or cruising the local op shops and making clothes from old sheets, like the lovely dress Lara is wearing which she dyed using eucalyptus sap and sewed to her own design.
