Liwanag sa Diliman - The UP Meteor Myth This project is a music video narrative that showcases the UP student. It gives homage to two pillars of UP: the Oblation and our alma mater song, UP Naming Mahal. Both have been reinterpreted to resonate the state of UP today and its endless pursuit for honor and excellence. The Oblation finds its meaning in the students; our alma mater song, rearranged to be more intense, in keeping with the tougher times. To capture the audience's attention, the video starts and ends with a 3D animation of a Meteor for there is a popular myth which says that the Diliman grounds was once hit by a meteor. It created a crater that we now call the Sunken Garden. The video also applies multiple mediums in the fields of music and visual arts. It opens with the piano as a fundamental stepping stone in music and the drums which provide the rhthym, a solid foundation to the song. The narrative was held together by a fruitful mix of basic drawing, animation, watercolor, sculpture and 3D animation. Our alma mater is known for producing our country's best thinkers and doers. But most of all, UP espouses collective action in a way that no other institution in our nation does. This is what we portrayed in our music video: different UP students, Iskolars who have no idea of each others' lives, but all are united for the cause of Honor and Excellence. It is a form of collective action which is unsaid in the entire four minutes--what binds us all, Iskolars, is the drive to do not only our best, but the best. PADAYON, UP!
