In late February 2025 we restarted from the tiny hamlet of Wald in Austria to continue our week-a-year ski traverse of the Grand Alpine Arc, from the Mediterranean to Vienna. Journeying for seven days we again met with varied weather and snow conditions, and traversed the beautiful Dachstein and Hochschwab ranges. As we progress eastward we have left the high mountains of the Alps, and are linking smaller - and often quieter - ranges. In particular the Dachstein and Hochschwab are complex limestone areas where we rarely saw other people. We also stayed a night in Eizenerz, the site of Austria's largest iron ore mine. Despite less than ideal weather, and a fair amount of time spent in forests with unconsolidated snow, we made good progress and finished the week in Seewiesen. Next year - Vienna!
