We’ve got our hands on two cars - the all-new, recently updated Audi RS3, as well as the original Mk1 RS3, and we’re about to put them through a series of challenges to see whether you are better off buying used over new! For starters, there’s an absolutely huge price difference. The new RS3 has recently undergone a mid-life facelift, and it now comes with a hefty price tag of over £60,000! In comparison, if you're looking to purchase a Mk1 RS3 in 2025, it'll set you back around £10,000. So the used car easily has the upper hand here! But if you’re in the market for a hot hatch such as this, the most important factor will, of course, be power output. The original RS3 was powered by a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder turbo that could produce 340hp and 400Nm. This power was sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. And as for the new RS3? Well, under the bonnet, you’ll once again find a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder turbo, although in this instance, it produces 400hp and 500Nm. Just like the original RS3, though, power is once again sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch. So the power output may be relatively similar, but is the old car still as powerful as it once was?
