Whenever you set out to develop a new habit, you must always expect that at some point, you will come to a dip in the road. At the start of a new endeavor, your enthusiasm and vision are fuel enough to sustain your momentum for a while. But sooner or later, you will encounter some setbacks - or else the daily grind of sticking to a new regimen will just begin to sap your motivation. Don't let yourself be derailed by The Dip! The Dip should not take you by surprise: it happens any time we try to break out of established habit patterns. Our brains are just wired to resist that type of change. But the good news is that this same rule will work in our favor later on, if we just push through the Dip long enough to get the new processes established. Once our brains get used to new ways of doing things, they fight just as hard to defend them as they did for the old, bad habits you've replaced.
