Japanese Culinary Art Award 2022-2023

Launched as the Japan Culinary Art Competition, this project has now been held for the eighth time. Wishing to emphasize the concept of providing recognition rather than that of competing, it has now been renamed as the Japanese Culinary Art Award. The event had to be postponed for one year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but thanks to the hard work of the many people involved with the Award, it has now been successfully held once again. We are confident that the Japanese Culinary Art Award will enable participants to build new networks of contacts, and will stimulate innovation that helps open a path for Japanese cuisine to continue evolving into the future, and that in this way the Award will provide support for those working in the field of Japanese cuisine, as culinary culture continues its unceasing development. We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) for its support for the Award, as well as to the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Kyoto Prefectural Government, Kyoto City Government, and all of the other organizations and enterprises that have provided sponsorship or assistance.
