Mitochondrial Dysfunction and the Brain’s Immune Response in Parkinson’s Disease

Join us for a live student research seminar hosted by the UNAM-UK Centre for Mexican Studies and MexSocUK. 👩‍🔬 Speaker: Elly Robles DPhil Researcher, University of Oxford This talk explores how mitochondrial dysfunction disrupts neuronal energy homeostasis and triggers immune responses in the brain. Particular attention will be given to mitochondrial stress–induced extracellular ATP release and its role as a purinergic danger signal that activates microglia, the brain’s primary immune cells.
