Lanabukt houses one of Jarfjords few quays. The bay is a good natural harbor because "Hinnøya" (an island) shelters against the wind and waves. In the past, there was a whale slaughterhouse in Lanabukt and you can still see some traces of this in "Valen",a shallow water that goes dry to Hinnøya in low tides. You can also find remains of whalebone along the coast. In recent times Lanabukt has been the main harbour for a fish farm (sea trout) lying on the other side of the fjord from Hinnøya. There are few who live permanently in Lanabukt to this date, but more cottages have been built. Lanabukt has good fishing opportunities both in the sea and lakes, but also great areas for berry picking and hunting. To get to Lanabukt you must follow the signs to Grense Jakobselv, Highway 886, until Vintervollen, then turn left and follow the road to the quay in Lanabukt.
