On this trip, my buddy @MichalOlender and I hiked to an area we are both quite familiar with. Even though this was my sixth trip to this particular mine and cabins, we still managed to come across new discoveries. We set up camp at the historic Oliver Justice cabin which was built in 1895. Justice was the first postmaster of Azusa and was appointed in 1872 by none other than president Ulysses S. Grant. He lived a successful life as a prospector in this portion of the canyon, living out there up until his death in 1929. He's buried overlooking his beloved cabin, maybe one day I'll make the trek up to the vista points and try to locate his resting place. We then set out to conquer the original trail that even scared the mules who had to walk upon it. This trail is appropriately nicknamed the "Wetwater" trail so named because of the natural spring that runs across it creating a muddy and quite dangerous passageway. Lastly, the next day we tried to locate a lesser known adit that hasn't been visited by too many people in the last few decades. Of course, we had to stop by and pay our respects to the oh so familiar mine and cabin that has captivated much of our attention and time. We're running out of ideas for what we shall do next, but there are many other mysteries out there that beckon us to solve them. Until the next trip, I hope y'all enjoy this explore as much as we did! Michal's Youtube Channel: / michalolender
