Amazon is a growth stock while Ebay stock is more of a value stock. I think YES! Ebay's margin of safety comes from traditional metrics like cash flows, asset sales and buybacks but one should not disregard Amazon's dominant position and fast growth. I don't think AMZN will grow at a slower pace than 15% over the next 5 to 7 years which should give a good return to investors in the worst case scenario. With growth of 15% AMZN will soon reach EBAY's value metrics. All in all, one one hand we have growth with AMZN and on the other asset value and good free cash flows with EBAY. Both good businesses that have rewarded shareholders well over the past decade (EBay - think PayPal). The key question to answer is which is best for you and at what stock price could AMZN or EBAY be margin of safety additions to your portfolio.
