Austin Vectorworks Community, February 2023: Nimble Modeling with Vectorworks

Vectorworks' many Plug-In Objects (PIOs) are parametric 2D and 3D objects that fill specialized modeling functions, from doors and windows to structural members, mechanical devices, duct work, and even 2D detailing. Over the years they've become increasingly powerful, to the point were in many instances custom modeling or drafting has become almost unnecessary. "Almost" because there are always instances where a PIO can't quite be parameterized to fully meet design needs. This month we look at some examples of PIOs as the basis for modeled or drawn components, augmented with nimble additional modeling. Some examples include custom door leaves and hardware, roof ridges and gutters, pergola members, and detailing profiles. Along the way, we pick up a couple of tips and tricks.
