@blackmountainpicks523 Aloha Black Mountain Picks, My name is Lex White and I’m the Director of Development here at KKCR, Kaua’i Community Radio. I am a musician in the bluegrass, country, and folk music genres here on the island of Kaua’i in the great state of Hawai’i. Here in Hawai’i, fingerstyle picking is a big part of the local music culture. Slack key players, and guitar and banjo pickers of all kinds around the islands often use thumbpicks to implement a strong bassline in their fingerpicking arrangements. Slides are also a staple of Hawaiian music, and of various other acoustic genres that are performed locally. I myself have been using Black Mountain thumbpicks for some time now as a performing musician, because of their superior grip and ability to allow me to switch easily between fingerpicking and flatpicking styles on the fly. I have also used a Black Mountain slide ring that I was quite fond of, though it disappeared after a show one night… In any case, KKCR is a non-profit community radio station that supports small businesses and talented musicians locally and across the world. We have a mission to preserve and perpetuate the tradition and culture of Hawaiian music in particular, as well as a more general appreciation for other American folk traditions such as Blues, Jazz, Reggae, Bluegrass, and Old-time music. We also broadcast programming that supports free speech and provides a platform for underrepresented voices in our communities and across these great United States of America. We would like to invite you to form a relationship with us both as businesses and as individual lovers of music and artistic endeavor. We have opportunities for underwriting our various shows, or for sponsoring events, visiting and local musical artists, and more. We would be happy to help you cultivate your brand image as a staple pick and slide company in the Hawaiian music scene, and we invite you to meet with us and put together a collaborative plan that can benefit your string business, our community radio station, the wonderful garden isle of Kaua’i, and the great state of Hawai’i and its many peoples. Mahalo and aloha.
