Transcript: Today I'm going to talk to you about 40 by 60 shops or pole barns. We get a lot of calls to assist with this type of project. Usually you find your heights are anywhere from 14 to 20 feet in these environments. We have round high bays or low bays. We also have linear fixtures. They in most cases provide the same basic light levels. For a 40 by 60 shop, you're wanting 50 to 60 foot candles because you're doing some type of mechanical work of some kind. You probably want (8) or (9) of a 100 watt - 120 watt high bay. That's usually what we find is the most common. The higher the height is, the higher the wattage can go. The lower height the lower the wattage can go. But the key is getting a nice uniform spread so that you don't have shadows.
