Kshamapna – Atonement A heart-touching prose composition where a spiritual seeker makes true heartfelt confessions to the Lord. It is chapter 56 in the text ‘Mokshmala’, which was written by Shrimadji at the tender age of 16 years and 5 months. English Meaning: O Lord, I have forgotten too much. I did not heed your invaluable words. I did not ponder over the unparalleled truth presented by you. I did not practice the topmost code of conduct propounded by you. I did not correctly comprehend the concepts of compassion, tranquility, forgiveness and purity as explained by you. O Lord, I am lost; I wandered, roamed and have fallen within the endless worldly turmoil. I am a sinner, highly intoxicated and smeared with the particles of karma. O Lord, I cannot reach salvation without the truth shown by you. I am incessantly indulging in sensuous pleasure. I am blinded by ignorance, do not have discernment, and am senseless, shelterless and helpless. Detached Lord, I am now surrendering myself to you, to your precepts and to your monks. I earnestly desire to get rid of all my faults and be absolved of all the sins. I am repenting for the sins committed earlier. As I ponder minutely and deeply, I get the glimpse of my true self in light of the miraculous impact of your enlightened state. You are unattached; pure; of the nature of existence, consciousness and bliss; innately blissful; infinitely enlightened; infinitely percipient and illuminator of the three worlds. In my own interest, I beg to be atoned in your presence. Let my sole aspiration and tendency be never to have any doubt about the truth presented by you and to stay day and night on the path laid by you. O Omniscient Lord, what else can I state? Nothing is unknown to you. With utter remorse, I pray for atonement of the sins arising by virtue of karma. Aum Peace, Peace, Peace. What is #Ajnabhakti?
