Karen and Claire Go Wild In The Rhinogs!

Hey lovely people!!!! I am soooooo excited to share this video with you all!!! 😍 This weekend with my wonderful wild friend Claire AKA ‪@WildBeare‬ will stay with me for the rest of my life! The scenery was just out of this world; completely majestic, wild and so so epic, and we had the most amazing weather considering we were up in the mountains with views for days!!! We started at Cwm Bychan and walked up to Gloyw Lyn the first day. This was like a baptism of fire for little ol' me with no path, clambering over rocks through the moss with a massive 17kg (at least!!!) rucksack on my back having driven 7 1/2 hours from Cornwall to North Wales! That first night was sooooo magical, the views across the lake and seriously not the tiniest of breezes it was absolutely incredible! The sunset was out of this world and I want to say the hugest thank you to Claire for her amazing drone footage and night time photography which I am sure you will all agree are unbelievable!!! On the second day Claire had a bit of a lie-in while I enjoyed watching the sun creep up over the mountain and watch the light changing over the hills and the beautiful sky reflected in the still lake; so magical! After a slightly lazy morning we then headed up to the beautiful Rhinog Fawr and I will openly admit I felt rather emotional when we reached the trig point! I felt so emotional editing this video and re-living it all so I really hope you feel I have done the trip justice! We had descended only about 50 meters in the wrong direction but when every step is agony due to my 'hippy shoes' (I have Rheumatoid Arthritis in my hips) the thought of having to climb back up a not easy path was slightly devastating but Claire was incredible and extremely patient with me and encouraged me every step of the way. I cannot stress how amazing she was the whole weekend and while I am well aware I was slowing her down she was so patient and understanding! Having reached the summit for a second time we then found the right path... this was a challenge for me in itself and was probably the toughest descent I've ever had to make in my whole life. When we got to the bottom and looked back up I could not quite believe we had descended what looked like a near vertical drop!! The views across Llyn Du were just incredible again and to have a full rainbow during a short-lived shower followed by a breath-taking sunset was almost too much to comprehend! To wake up to yet another beautiful sunny morning was incredible and to be able to have a wild swim by a stunning waterfall was just the icing on the cake! The Roman Steps were absolutely breath-taking and Claire summed it up by saying it makes her think of giants smashing their way through the mountains, it really does look like that's what happened! I am sorry you had to wait so long for this video but I have spent hours editing it to get it just right; picking the right music, selecting the right clips, and amalgamating all the footage that Claire and I filmed between us. A massive thank you to Claire for her amazing footage shot on her camera as well as her GoPro and drone, both things I am going to have to purchase at some point!!! I really hope you've enjoyed this video because I certainly loved making it for you! And Claire..... thank you for being such an incredible friend, love you to bits! Take care and stay wild!
