The White Owl is a Brewery & Bistro located at one indiabulls centre in Lower Parel . The brewery specializes in artisanal beers created in its own microbrewery. The beer is made from natural ingredients sourced from around the world, its completely free from artificial flavours and preservatives. Apart from the fantastic beers the bistro serves modern european cuisines in a warehouse-like yet stylish ambiance. So here is what I had upon an invite !! ARTISANAL BEERS:- ACE - French apple cider, with a mild apple champagne flavours. It's the best bet if you are not a beer person ! Nice ! SPARK - A Belgian wit with refreshing citrus flavours. Absolute citrusy ...liked it !! SHADOW - An english porter with strong roast & mild chocolate flavours. The roasted flavour of chocolate was pronounced! wow !! SNACKS:- GOURMET POPCORN - Available in three flavours the parmesan cheese and chives is what i liked the best ! The flavour of sharp parmesan cheese went well with the popcorn ! SALADS:- CRISP SESAME CHICKEN - Batter fried sesane flavoured chicken tossed with romaine lettuce/red chillies/cucumber and onions in a honey soya dressing. Loved the simple soya honey dressing ! Fresh fulfilling and different! STARTERS:- PARSLEY & CHICKPEAS FRITTERS - Chickpea falafel with onion and parsley. Nice fresh minty flavour ! FISH & CHIPS - Beer battered fish fillets . Served with tartar sauce . The was nice but a bit oily to my liking ! VERDURE FLATBREAD - Thin flatbread topped with roasted bell peppers/mushrooms/garlic oil and pesto . The crust was hard and it was over loaded with veggies ! The basil flavour from pesto was pungent and overpowering!! TOSTADA - Crispy mini tortillas layered with cilantro creme, topped with black beans and mozzarella cheese . Flat on the palate the beans did not go well with the cilantro creme !! JALAPEÑO POPPERS - Batter fried balls stuffed with jalapeños/emmental and cheddar cheese. The flavour of jalapeño was missing ! RED SNAPPER SKEWERS - Fish fillets/onions and capsicum marinated with cajun spices then grilled to perfection. served on a skewer with lemon aioli . Loved the spicy cajun marinate ! The fish was grilled to perfection!! MAIN COURSE:- BASIL INFUSED GRILLED CHICKEN - Grilled chicken stuffed with mushroom. Served woth garlic potato mash and red wine jus. There were too many flavours at play ! Sweet sour herby ....all mixed up ! The overpowering flavour of rosemary just did not work with basil and super soury red wine reduction!! ROASTED PUMPKIN RAVIOLI - Cream cheese and pumpkin stuffed ravioli pasta. Served with Beurre noisette sauce. The pan searing of the pasta was over done ! It made it a bit hard ! Beurre noisette is all about the nutty flavour coming from heating unsalted butter but the inclusion of honey made it a bit too sweet !! SUN DRIED TOMATOES & ASPARAGUS RISOTTO - Short grained Italian rice flavoured with mascarpone and parmesan cheese . Topped garlic crumble. The over loading of the crumble made the risotto dry ...the creamy texture of cheese in the risotto was completely missing ! DESSERTS:- BAKED CHOCOLATE CHEESECAKE - Fresh moist and chocolaty !! Nice !! WHITE CHOCOLATE CREME BRULEE - Creamy luscious texture!! Fantastic!! Overall its a place for fresh flavoured beer lovers !! According to me the food does not match up with the outstanding booze this place offers ! anandtiwari.in
