Today's drive takes us away from lake Léman as we move back into the country side. We start at Lac de Bret and pass through the towns of Forel and Jorat-Mézières before making it to our final destination, Moudon. At the geographical center of French-speaking Switzerland, ideally located at the junction of the Lake Geneva arc and the Plateau, the town of Moudon has flourished in a green setting for nearly 2000 years. A tourist center of cantonal importance, classified as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Switzerland, the former capital of the Pays de Vaud can boast of a very rich built heritage. One of the best-preserved examples of medieval civil architecture in the canton, its upper town is also recognized as a site of national interest. With a little more than 6128 inhabitants today, Moudon, where the quality of life is particularly appreciated, is experiencing significant urban development linked to strong demographic growth. Museums, exhibitions, various craft markets, an intense associative life as well as a rich and varied cultural program enliven the city over the seasons.
