-Used Braze Kit test mode to activate sounds on demand. Because so many sound were out, I started at the beginning and tried to document and follow a linear troubleshooting method. 00:00 SI DLX Sound Board Differences 02:48 Brasington Kit/Testing Sounds 05:21 Testing 74174 & 7417 14:58 Noise Circuit 18:15 K4 & K5 Invader Hit 21:40 M4, M5 Saucer Hit 24:43 Thump Thump Ckt 27:39 Missile Shot 34:15 All Fixed Game PCB: Space Invaders Deluxe Sound Board Symptom: Missing all sounds except Saucer Steps: Since I had some sound (Saucer) I assumed the LM3900 at L2-3 and LM377 in amplifier section were good. -Tested 74174s at E4 & E5, then 7417 at F4 and F5. All were good. -Next went after the Noise circuit required for Missile Shot and Explosion. It looked like 4006 @ N5 was bad (low output on pin 12 and 13) so replaced that and got explosion back. -Piggy backed a 3900 at K5 and got the Invader Hit sound back so replaced that. -For Saucer Hit, M4 didn't look right on scope so replaced it and mistakenly cut out M5 during the process so it got replaced as well. Most likely it was M5 which feeds M4. -For Missile Shot, shot gunned the 3900 at P4 but no joy. Compared the various signals to working board and everything looked good except final output of P4-10. On a hunch, went to the diode at D3 and it tested bad and fell apart during desoldering. Repair: Replaced 4006 @ N5 for Explosion Replaced Diode at D3 for Missile shot Replaced 7411 at H3 for Bonus Base and Thump Replaced 3900 at K5 for Invader Hit Replaced 3900 at M5 for Saucer Hit
