Some recent high-profile cases made me think about how to run a lab, and how academic environments can turn toxic, maybe even in the absence of bad intentions (even though I don't know anything beyond public information about any particular case). What is clear that in any lab there is a power differential, a hierarchy. And therefore maintaining professional distances is essential.
