In Part II of our La Palma (Isla Bonita) series, we explore the island’s most surprising and dramatic places — from a tiny cave village hidden in a 50-meter cliffs to wild waterfalls and bright white salt pans surrounded by black lava terrain. We start in Porís de Candelaria, a fishing village tucked inside a huge ocean cave. Then we visit the lush Los Tilos waterfall, drive through endless banana plantations, and head south to the salt fields of Fuencaliente. Our journey continues with the scenic La Palma hiking trail, stopping at Cascada de los Colores and the deep canyons of Caldera de Taburiente. Finally, we relax at the natural pools of La Fajana and swim in Los Cancajos, one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Finally, we visit a rescue park home to parrots, monkeys, and other animals that were given a second chance after the volcanic eruption. La Palma is wild, contrasting, and full of hidden places.
